Air pollution is a major environmental challenge confronting cities. Growing population, industrial expansion and surging transportation have driven a sharp rise in energy consumption, releasing massive pollutants into the atmospheric environment humans rely on for survival. In recent years, accelerated urbanization has exposed regions to severe air pollution. The sudden formation and transmission of urban pollution sources feature extreme complexity. Neither dense deployment of discrete monitoring stations nor scanning by single traditional radar can fully cover all sudden pollution sources or support refined source tracing.

Solution Overview

Lidar adopts laser remote sensing technology to accurately measure the spatial distribution of atmospheric aerosols and particulate matter. Networked deployment of multiple lidar units enables quantification of total pollutant emissions within designated areas, identification of cross-border pollutant species between neighboring cities, and analysis of pollutant variation trends in the atmosphere, providing credible data to explain spikes in air pollution indices.
Aerosol lidar supports real-time online monitoring of atmospheric environmental quality, atmospheric aerosols (floating dust), atmospheric boundary layer height, as well as the spatiotemporal evolution and characteristics of cloud height and multi-layer cloud structures. Equipped with fixed-point, scanning and mobile cruising detection modes, the system can distinguish local pollutants from external transported pollutants, assess pollutant diffusion conditions, and issue early warnings for polluted weather events.
