Wind lidar can be set up near the airport runway to effectively monitor wind field and wind shear information, automatically invert and process the collected signals, display real-time data such as wind speed and direction on the computer interface, provide real-time warning for wind shear, and quickly upload it to the control center through the network, providing effective guarantees such as warning and forecasting for safe takeoff and landing of aircraft.

Wind Shear Identification and Early Warning

Wind lidars conduct refined monitoring of hazardous wind fields covering the full 3-nautical-mile extension zones at both ends of the runway. Wind shear factors are calculated based on radial wind vector values within each grid, with forecast frequency, warning time and location output. Real-time alarms will be triggered once measured values exceed preset thresholds. Wind lidar supports multiple scanning modes programmable via scripts: PPI, RHI, DBS, LOS and CAPPI. Variable elevation PPI scanning or glide path scanning can be adopted to identify and warn of low-altitude wind shear.
